The Bible tells us that all the earth and its fullness belong to the Lord. (Psalms 24:1) We at the Bread of Life are living proof of God's great sufficiency. We are blessed to be able to minister to the poor from the overflow of His bounty.
We take God's stewardship to the poor very seriously. Eight-five percent of every dollar the Lord gives goes directly into the needs of the poor. Our goal is to see Jesus Christ successful in the lives of everyone that comes to the Bread of Life.
The many hundreds and thousands of success stories at the Bread of Life are the true testimony of God's great love and power and His desire to change lives. He accepts us just like we are, so does the Bread of Life.
Many of our residents suffer from serious mental health issues. In a land of great wealth like the United States, it is sad that the poor and mentally ill are so neglected. Many will not come into shelters or seek help. When the weather becomes cold, we take blankets, food, dry clothing and boots to those who are isolated by their mental afflictions.
Another segment of our population that suffers terribly from homelessness is our children. Over one and a half million children in our country tonight will be homeless. The number of homeless women and children has been growing steadily since we opened our doors in 2002. The number of women and children sometimes exceed the number of men for evening devotion.
If the Lord burdens your heart for the poor, please pray about contributing to this ministry. You can be part of the fulfillment of Psalms 9:18 "for the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever."
The Lord bless you and yours.

The Bread of Life Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization. The Mission's purpose is glorifying God through the salvation of souls and rehabilitation of individuals, providing temporary shelter, medical attention, and food for the homeless and transient, conducting interdenominational services daily and educating and rehabilitating those seeking help out of life on the streets.
In June alone we served 3,685 meals, housed 76 residents many of whom are women and children, delivered 278 food boxes, assisted 70 families with bills they couldn't pay, provided furniture and clothing for 65 families, and saw that the medical needs of 33 persons were met. On another note, our women's Resident Director, Kim Lyles, has her own home for the first time in eight years. This meant giving up her job here at the mission as that job description requires that the employee live on the premises; however, what a blessing for her to be independent after so many years! She is building a business for herself cleaning homes. This is exactly what the mission is about - not a hand out, but a hand up. Praise God. We are blessed to have Verna to take her place. I hope you've met her. She's doing a great job and maybe someday she too will find her way up.
Did you know that Larry Hayes worked with our resident men to plant a vegetable garden for our use as well as others who need it! With all this rain, it has produced abundantly! Need some fresh veggies! See Larry.
Two Sundays ago at the mission church, Kirk baptized nine people - many were residents here. At the invitation, five people accepted Christ into their lives. Most were our residents. You know, there is an extensive Bible study going on everyday with the residents along with prayer and "just talking it over" with some one actively involved with the mission.
Please, please know how appreciated every single one of you are to this rescue work.
For the glory of our Lord,
Harriet McCombs
